Emily Kennerk
I am interested in the transitional state of our current modernity, the departure from a solid plausibility structure to a liquid one, and how seemingly discarded ideologies operate within current modes of thought. Identifying structures and thought processes, placing them side-by-side, or alone to find their realities is a common theme and approach that inspires my work. Due to the nature of this approach, I am not bound to specific materials or processes. This allows for the opportunity to use a wide range of mediums and the ability to explore different ways of working. An underpinning in my art has been that it is greatly informed by the environment in which I am currently living and the artworks final destination. It may inform the materials I use, how it is created, and its final manifestation are all contributing factors in the process.
